(April 18, 1846) Samuel A. Black testifies to death. Before me D. Baugh Probate Justice in and for said county personally came Samuel A. Black and on his oath saith that John Black of the county aforesaid died intestate on or about the 10th day of February 1846 and as he believes intestate. S. A. Black Sworn to before me this 18th day of April 1846 (April 18, 1846) Administrator’s Bond Know all men by their presents that we Rhoda Black and Samuel A. Black of the county of Jefferson and state of Illinois are held and firmly bound unto the people of the state of Illinois in the penal sum of four hundred dollars current money of the United States which payment will and truly to be made and performed we bind ourselves our heirs executors administrators and assigns jointly severally and firmly by their presents.Witness our hands and seals this 18th day of April A D 1846. The condition of the above obligation is such that if the said Rhoda Black administrator of all and singular the goods and chattels rights and credits of John Black deceased do make or cause to be made a true and perfect inventory of all and singular the goods and chattels rights and credits which were of the said deceased which shall come to the hand, possession, or knowledge of him the said Rhoda Black as such administrator or to the hands of any person for him and the same so made do exhibit or come to be exhibited in the court of probate for the said county of Jefferson agreeably to laws and such goods and chattels, rights and credits do well and truly administrate according to law and all the rest of the said goods and chattels, rights and credits which shall be found remaining upon the account of said administrators the same being first reassessed and allowed by the court of probate shall deliver and pay to such person or persons as may be legally entitled thereto, and further do make or cause to be made a just and true account of all his actings and doings therein when thereunto required by said court and if it shall hereafter appear that any last will and testament was made by the deceased, and the same be proven in court and letters testimony or of administration be obtained thereupon and the said Rhoda Black----- do in such case on being required thereto render and deliver up the letters of administration granted to as aforesaid and shall in general do and perform all other acts which may at any time be required of him by law then this obligation to be void otherwise to recompense in full honor and virtue. Administrator’s Oath I do solemnly swear that I will and truly administer all and singular the goods and chattels rights and credits and effects of John Black deceased and pay all just claims and charges against his estate so far as his goods chattels and effects shall extend and the law charge me and that I will do and perform all other acts required of me by law to the best of my knowledge and ability so help me God. Robinson, James Bodine, and Hubbard Dare of the county of Jefferson and state of Illinois. Greetings. This is to authorize you jointly to value and appraise the goods and chattels and personal estate of John Black late of the county of Jefferson and state of Illinois deceased so far as the same shall come to your sight and knowledge, each of you having first taken the oath hereto exed. a certificate whereof you are to return annexed to an appraisement bill of said goods and chattels and personal estate by you appraised in dollars and cents, and in the said bill of appraisement you are to set down in a column or columns appropriate to each article appraised the value thereof. Vernon this 18th day of April AD 1846 You and each of you do solemnly swear that you will and truly without partiality or prejudice value and appraise the goods and chattels and personal estate of John Black deceased so far as the same shall come to your sight and knowledge and that you within all respects perform your duty as appraisers to the best of your skill and judgment so help you God. Black Perlina Ann Black minor heirs of John Black deceased and who sue by Rhoda Black their next friends filed their bill in Chancery in the circuit court of Jefferson County State of Illinois on the Chancery side thereof at the August term of said court A. D> 1847 against Rachel Martin John Black and William P., Black widdow and minor heirs of Robert Black deceased praying among other things that the said court should order adjudge and decree the title SW of the SW quarter of section number two in the township number four range number two east land situated in the county of Jefferson State of Illinois. And whereas also on a hearing of said cause the said court ordered adjudged and decreed the title of the said land above described in fee simple to be in the said complainants that is that the said Rhoda Black be vested with the dower right therein and that the said heirs of the said John Black deceased be vested with an estate of inheritance therein. And whereas it was further ordered that the said Rachel Martin John Black and William Black widdow and heirs of the said Robert Black deceased should instanter make execute and deliver to the said Rhoda Black Samuel A. Black Robert C. Black Pelina Ann Black their heirs and assigns god lawful and
sufficient deed conveying to the said Rhoda Black as widdow of the said John Black deceased, and Samuel
Black Robert C. Black and Polina Ann Black their heirs and assigns all their right title and interest in the said land above described. And in default thereof that E. H. Ridgeway appointed by order of said court as a
commissioner for that purpose should make execute and deliver to the said Rhoda Black as widow of the said John Black dec’d. and Samuel A. Black Robert C. Black and Pelina Ann Black their heirs and assigns good IN witness whereof I the said E. H. Ridgeway commissioner as aforesaid have here unto set my hand and seal this 18th day of August A. D. 1947. Signed sealed and delivered in presence of State of Illinois County of Jefferson }ss.This day personally came before the undersigned clerk of the county commissioners court for said county Edward H. Ridgeway personally known to me to be the identical person who signed the foregoing indenture and acknowledges the same to be his voluntary act and deed for the purposes and uses therein set fourth.
