Petition of Susan Baker in the matter of the Estate of William Baker 
deceased, for Letters of Administration.
To the Hon. Jared Foster Judge of the County Court of Jefferson County, 
in the State of Illinois.
The Petition of the undersigned, Susan Baker respectfully represents that 
William Baker late of the county of Jefferson aforesaid, departed this life 
at his residence in said county, on or about the 23rd day of September A. D. 1875, 
leaving no last will and testament, as far as your petitioner knows or believes.
And this Petition further shows that the said William Baker died, seized and 
possessed of Real and Personal Estate, consisting chiefly of:
land, one horse, 3 cows & 4 calves, 13 head of hogs, 40 or 50 fodder shocks, 
farming tools, household & kitchen furniture, old wagon
all of said personal estate being estimated to be worth about Two Hundred & 
five dollars.  That said deceased left surviving him Susan Baker his widow and 
James Baker, Margaret Boswell, Thos. Baker, John Baker, William Baker, Andrew Baker, 
Catherine Samples, Charles Baker, Nancy Shehorn, Dicy Rynes, Ben Baker, Joseph Baker, 
and Alonzo Baker his children as heirs.  That your petitioner (being wife of said 
deceased, and) believing  that the said estate should be immediately administered 
as well for the proper management of said Estate as for the prompt collection of 
the assets, by virtue of her right under the Statute she therefore prays that your 
honor will grant Letters of Administration to her in the premises, upon her taking 
the oath prescribed by the Statute, and entering into bond in such sum, and with 
securities, as may be approved by your honor.

STATE OF ILLINOIS,
Jefferson County		ss.		Susan Baker being duly sworn, deposes and says, 
that the facts averred in the above petition are true, according to the best of 
her knowledge, information and belief.
